Kimberly Newberry is located in Tallahassee, Florida and joined the Project as a staff attorney in June 2021. Kimberly started her capital habeas career as a fellow with the Capital Post-Conviction Project of Louisiana in New Orleans before joining the Capital Habeas Units of the federal defender offices in Philadelphia and then in Tallahassee. Kimberly’s passion for capital defense work started in law school, where she had the privilege of interning at the Capital Appeals Project in New Orleans, Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta, and the Department of Public Advocacy in La Grange, Kentucky. Kimberly received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and her law degree from Harvard Law School.
