Banafsheh Amirzadeh joined the Federal Capital Habeas Project as a Staff Attorney in 2023. Banafsheh began her legal career as an associate at Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) in New York before then joining the ABA’s Death Penalty Moratorium Implentation Project in Washington DC. Banafsheh has worked as an attorney in the Capital Habeas Units of the Delaware and Nevada Federal Defender Offices. Before joining the Project, she worked as an attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney Office’s Conviction Integrity Unit. Banafsheh received her B.A. from the University of South Carolina and her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
