The § 2255 Project maintains various data and demographic information about the federal death row population. Please click on any link in the menu on the left to open relevant charts documenting: (1) the current racial composition of inmates on federal death row; (2) the states and federal judicial circuits in which the capital cases of federal death row inmates originated; and (3) the growth of the federal death row population since 1991, the year in which the first death sentence of the modern federal death penalty era was imposed.
